The company cut roughly a third off the price of its “Full Self Driving” system Saturday - to $8,000 from $12,000. A day prior that Tesla cut $2,000 off the prices of three of its five models in the United States. Tesla reduced the prices of the Model Y, a small SUV which is Tesla’s most popular model and the top-selling electric vehicle in the US, and also of the Models X and S, its older and more expensive models. Companies lower prices for their products aiming to increase sales of their products, especially in competitive markets. However, lower product prices also mean lower profit margins and hence lower profits per product unit, which is bearish for a company’s stock price.
